«The play based on fairytale of Hans Christian Andersen to music by the Great Russian composer Petr Tchaikovsky will be the fabulous dance embodiment of the classic plot», – choreographer shares his concept. «It was my childhood dream to stage this artwork. I’ve been thinking through the idea of creation of this ballet for more than ten years. The fairy-tale of Andersen is incredibly beneficial material. There are many colorful characters, Christian philosophy motives, theme of the road, growth, transformation on the way to perfection».
The choreographer remains true to the narrative line of the literary resource – the story of Kai and Gerda.
Maxim Sevagin chose fragments from the Fourth, the Fifth and the Sixth symphonies by Tchaikovsky as a musical basis for his artwork. Thus, he became the continuator of traditions of the theatre and of the famous choreographer Vladimir Burmeister, who put on the original ballet «Snow Maiden» based on the Ostrovsky fairy-tale, using the autographed score form Tchaikovsky musical works.
